On September 16, 2025, a milestone moment for China-Pakistan agricultural cooperation unfolded at the Shanghai Shangri-La Hotel. Witnessed by distinguished guests including Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari, and Pakistani Ambassador to China Hashmi, Shanghai Huawei Agricultural Technology Group (hereinafter referred to as "Huawei Agritech") formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in the field of controllable agriculture with relevant departments of the Pakistani government. This signing not only signifies that Huawei Agritech’s layout in the Pakistani market has entered a deepening phase but also lays a solid foundation for the comprehensive agricultural cooperation between the two sides in the future.
As a technology-driven enterprise deeply engaged in the controllable agriculture sector, Huawei Agritech has long been responding to the global demand for agricultural modernization through technological innovation. Centering on the practical pain points of Pakistan’s agricultural transformation and upgrading, the company will leverage its core technological advantages in controllable agriculture to carry out in-depth collaboration with Pakistan in three key areas: Firstly, promoting the localized popularization and application of complete sets of intelligent irrigation equipment to address the long-standing issue of low irrigation efficiency in Pakistan’s agriculture; Secondly, jointly constructing projects related to agricultural hydroponic greenhouses to create demonstration models for high-value agricultural production; Thirdly, co-establishing the ACA (Agrist Controllable Agriculture) Controllable Agricultural Science and Education Park, which will build a full-chain support system covering "technology R&D, talent cultivation, and industrial application".
The implementation of this strategic cooperation is poised to accelerate the innovative application and large-scale popularization of controllable agricultural technologies in Pakistan, powering the comprehensive transformation of local agriculture from a traditional extensive planting model to an efficient and intensive industry. From a broader perspective, this partnership will not only further deepen the all-round cooperation between China and Pakistan in the agricultural field and inject green industrial momentum into the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor but also provide crucial technological and industrial support for regional food security. Ultimately, it will realize mutual benefit and win-win development for both sides in the realm of agricultural progress.
